Trump adviser says Trudeau 'stabbed us in the back' at G7 summit

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow continued the war of words between the Trump administration and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday morning.

Earlier, Trudeau had told reporters that Trump's decision to invoke national security to justify USA tariffs on steel and aluminum imports was "kind of insulting" to Canadian veterans who had stood by their United States allies in conflicts dating back to World War I.

Shortly after Trump left the G7 summit, where the world leaders had reached a tentative agreement on a joint statement, Trudeau held a press conference in which he said that Canada will not be "pushed around" by the U.S.

After Trump departed for Singapore for a highly anticipated meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Trudeau criticized Trump for triggering a trade dispute and said Canada would retaliate with tariffs against the U.S.

"POTUS is going to Singapore to negotiate with the North Koreans", he explained.

"That's what bad-faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference".

"Don't blame Trump. It was Trudeau who started blasting Trump after he left, after the deals had been made".

"And what did Trudeau did - do as soon as - as soon as the plane took off from Canadian airspace, Trudeau stuck our president in the back".

He also denied the summit had been contentious, a remark that contradicted what one G7 official described as an "extraordinary" exchange on Friday in which Trump repeated a list of trade grievances, mainly concerning the European Union and Canada.

He really kind of stabbed us in the back. "Very dishonest & weak", he said of Trudeau.

Trump, who departed the summit early, also accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of being "very dishonest" in his condemnation of U.S. tariffs.

"He did a great disservice to the whole [Group of Seven (G-7)]", he added.

To many observers the photograph, a rare glimpse of diplomatic activity not wreathed in smiles and handshakes, seemed both a summation of the effect of Trump's "America first" foreign policy and the flawless pictorial accompaniment to a tense couple of days in Canada.

Senator John McCain responded to these tweets by supposedly speaking for the American people and saying that the country stands with the rest of the G7 countries, even if President Trump does not.

"We strive to reduce tariff barriers, non-tariff barriers and subsidies", it said, reflecting the typical language of decades of G7 statements. "The prime minister said nothing he hasn't said before - both in public, and in private conversations with the president".

In the communique, the group of major industrial nations - Canada, the United States, the UK, France, Italy, Japan and Germany - had initially agreed on the need for "free, fair, and mutually beneficial trade" and the importance of fighting protectionism.

"The contrast between the Trump at the table and via Twitter is unsettling, to be sure".

"In the name of the Western allies, he ought to come out today and wish President Trump well in the negotiations, instead of taking potshots at us", Kudlow said.

"A special place in hell" for one of America's closest allies? "Trudeau stuck our president in the back and that will not stand". He did not grant Canada an exemption from those tariffs, citing national security concerns. "But we moved things forward in a significant way to build a consensus around many big issues that we were called on to address together". "This too shall pass", he wrote.

Trudeau argued that Trump is making a strategist mistake by placing tariffs on Canadian steel. Some believe it's not something that can lose its value just because of a couple of tweets. Trump, however, accused the Canadian Prime Minister of falsehood.

EA Play at E3 2018
Unfortunately, it seems that the Internet just wasn't having it with many calling it the "worst press conference" in E3 history. Battlefield V will put players into the chaos of World War II, bringing the franchise full circle back to where it all started.
