Muhammad Ali's family have said that they don't want Donald Trump to posthumously pardon him for refusing to fight in the Vietnam War.

"We appreciate President Trump's sentiment, but a pardon is unnecessary", Ali's Attorney Ron Tweel said. Ali had no criminal convictions that need pardoning.

Ali, who died on June 3, 2016, refused to enter the military during the Vietnam War, declaring himself a conscientious objector.

The Supreme Court chose to overturn Ali's conviction in the early 1970s in the decision Clay v.
