Working with Meridian and other suppliers, Ford said it moved 19 dies - used to shape magnesium parts - out of the Eaton Rapids plant in 30 hours.

Ford announced Wednesday that production of the F-150 would resume Friday at its Dearborn, Mich. plant now that the Easton Rapids facility is back in operation.

Commercial grade Super Duty production will restart by Monday at the Kentucky truck plant as well as the Kansas City plant that also makes F-150 pickups.

After inspecting and repairing the dies, Ford said some portions of the Eaton Rapids facility were able to restart production.

Dearborn-based Ford put together a team that refurbished and relocated tooling needed to make parts for the vehicles.

The An-124, a military transport behemoth first flown the year after Ronald Reagan took office as president, was to bring truck tooling to Nottingham, U.K.so it could get cranking out parts at another Meridian facility while the one in Eaton Rapids is brought back up to speed.

Ford said production of its F-150 and Super Duty trucks and five other vehicles - Expedition, Explorer, Flex and Lincoln Navigator and MKT - was impacted by the May 2 fire.

One die weighing 87,000 pounds was moved from Eaton Rapids, Mich., to Nottingham, England, using an Antonov cargo plane, one of the largest in the world.

A team in Nottingham was waiting to receive the die and take it to Meridian's nearby factory.

Boeing 747 jets will make daily flights to ship parts in from the United Kingdom until Meridian's Eaton Rapids facility "returns to pre-fire levels", Ford noted.

Ultimately, Ford said it expects to lose $0.12-$0.14 per share in the second quarter this year due to the truck production shutdown, but reaffirmed earnings-per-share guidance for 2018 from $1.45-$1.70.

The fire also affected General Motors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc. and BMW of North America, although they declined to say how long output of some vehicles, including the Chrysler Pacifica, Chevrolet Express, and BMW X5 and X6 could be slowed.
