Morocco's bid to stage the 2026 World Cup has reached its most crucial phase to date with the arrival of FIFA's evaluation panel for a three-day visit that could make or break the north African country's chances.

"It is an old myth that Africa doesn't have the capacity and naysayers should stop using the political argument", said Safa president Dr Danny Jordaan.

Soon after the accord, FIFA and the European Club Association representing more than 200 members signed a new working deal which guaranteed clubs worldwide a $209 million share of World Cup revenues from each of the 2018 tournament in Russian Federation and the 2022 edition in Qatar.

The North American bid now has 17 of the 104 votes needed to win the hosting rights to the national team tournament, which will be determined at a vote of the Fifa Congress on 13th June in Moscow.

They have previously campaigned for the right to organise the 1994, 1998, 2006 and 2010 editions.

The Football Federation of South Africa has joined the list of the global countries expressing their willingness to vote for the African bid on June 13.

Abubakar Ago, a retired FIFA licensed referee, has said that the country's referees are capable of officiating at the FIFA World Cup finals if given the opportunity.

"Morocco needs South Africa's voice, it is the loudest voice on the continent", added the Cameroonian.

The South American Football Confederation member countries including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela have come forward to back the United 2026 Bid.

Morocco's Foreign Affairs Minister, Nasser Bourita, told the press after the Arab Summit attended by Prince Moulay Rachid that "the summit has unanimously affirmed its support" for the Moroccan bid and called upon all states to provide full support for Morocco.
