In the second FIR, the CBI has booked the rape victim's father, Surender Singh, on the basis of an FIR filed by the UP Police on April 3 for criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt, threat and unlawful possession of arms. A senior CBI official said the MLA from Bangarmau in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district was taken from a house in Lucknow's Indira Nagar area to the agency's office in Hazratganj around 4 am on Saturday. A team also visited the crime scenes in Makhi village and examined family members, witnesses and hospital officials where the rape victim and her father were taken for treatment.

The HC, which had taken suo moto cognizance of the case, ordered immediate arrest of Senger after being told by the state advocate general that the MLA had been detained and not arrested.

A 17-year-old had accused the BJP MLA and his brother of gangraping her last year, and alleged that the authorities did not pursue the case to bring her justice.

The victim claimed that she had gone to meet UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and top police officers in August. The girl, after failing to get justice for about a year, tried to immolate herself in front of chief minister Adityanatah's residence. The very next day, the victim's father, who was held by police, died inside the jail with postmortem reports indicating at serious injuries.
