Trump allies in Syria aren't trustworthy, national security expert warns

Trump vows 'forceful' response as Russia and Damascus deny chemical attack Russian ambassador to Lebanon: Any US missiles fired at Syria will be shot down

A day after saying missiles would be flying toward Syria, President Trump sowed uncertainty about his plans Thursday by claiming he never said "when" there would be an attack.

Just days before the alleged chemical attack, Trump had teased about the possibility of a United States withdrawal from Syria.

But she says, "No final decision has been made".

Trump's tone, in contrast to the more methodical evidence-led approach of the UK's Conservative government, might also make it more hard for May to win a Commons vote.

Wednesday morning, President Trump singled out Syria and Russian Federation in a series of tweets, outlining his intent to begin missile strikes against Syria, describing the weapons "nice and new and 'smart!,'" and that Russian Federation should rethink its partnership with Syria.

The comments follow an NBC News report claiming the USA has obtained blood and urine samples from a suspected chemical attack in Syria that have tested positive for both an unidentified nerve agent and chlorine gas exposure.

The "axis of resistance", referring to the Syrian allies of Iran and Hezbollah, has its choices in dealing with the United States threats, Shabaan said, adding that the rule of clashes has changed in favour of the Syrian side. "Get ready Russian Federation, because they will be coming, nice and new and 'smart!'" Mr Trump tweeted. The president previously struck Assad for using Sarin gas against civilians in April 2017 and is publicly incensed at the regime's repeated action.

Yet another (unlikely) attempt to split up California is in the works
CNN reached out to Secretary of State Alex Padilla, but he refused to comment until he receives the signatures. And a new California would begin in Los Angeles County and cover most of the coastal areas.

The United States was actively collecting evidence on how Syria and Russian Federation were responding to USA threats, officials said, adding that Washington believed Syria and its allies were nearly certainly also moving personnel and military equipment - beyond just aircraft - into protective locations.

Russia's Foreign Ministry responded to Mr Trump's threat by saying the USA should focus on eliminating internationally recognised terrorist forces in Syria, not the government.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded to Trump's tweet by saying that "missiles should fly towards terrorists, not [Syria's] lawful government, which has spent several years fighting against worldwide terrorism on its territory".

Trump did not detail what a strike would look like, or whether these would be USA missiles.

Trump's tweets also delivered a mixed message, not unusual for the mercurial president.

The statement was the latest in a war of words raging between Washington and Moscow since Saturday's suspected attack on the rebel-held town Douma, just outside Damascus, which is believed to have killed more than 40 people.

The British Prime Minister, Theresa May, was convening a meeting of her Cabinet on Thursday afternoon, at which she is expected to make the case for supporting the USA in any military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
