How to Tell if Your Mac is 32-bit or 64-bit

Apple pushing 32-bit app warning live for macOS 10.13.4 as 64-bit transition continues Apple has begun notifying macOS users of coming 32-bit app incompatibility

All modern Macs include powerful 64-bit processors, and macOS runs advanced 64-bit apps, which can access dramatically more memory and enable faster system performance.

When you download macOS 10.13.4 and open a 32-bit app, you'll receive a notification that tells you the software is "not optimized" for the Mac.

Companies are actively trying to push developers and users towards 64-bit apps as this has more or less become the standard now for both mobile and computing devices. Apple reaffirms that "final transition dates have not yet been established" but encourages users to check for 32-bit apps before support is cut off in the future. To help explain what is going on, the message features a Learn More button. Apple plans to eventually stop supporting 32 bit applications entirely, and this warning is just one step along that path.

Apple is transitioning into 64-bit territory simply because apps built under this architecture are much easier to maintain, and perhaps because these apps are far more efficient than their 32-bit counterparts.

High Sierra (10.13), the current version of macOS, will be the last version to support 32-bit apps "without compromise". The company has now started informing Mac users that 32-bit app support is going to end in the near future. Still, when the big day finally rolls around, there will nearly certainly be complaints nonetheless.

OnePlus 6 Latest Teaser Offers Another Glimpse At The New Phone
In a direct comparison with the 5T, the first thing that's changed this year is the position for the OnePlus 6's alert slider. Posted via the company's official Twitter account, the pictures shows a OnePlus 5T placed face down on top of OnePlus 6.

Once this transition is completed, MacOS will join iOS which is already pure 64-bit.

The tech giant this week will begin warning Mac users that 32-bit applications are not desirable.

After previously testing in beta, Apple is pushing a new 32-bit app warning live for users on macOS 10.13.4 starting at midnight local time. 32-bit apps will still run normally for the immediate future.

If you have a favorite app that hasn't been updated in a while, it might be worth contacting the developer to see if they're planning on issuing an update.

Click the Apple logo in the top menu bar. From the system report, scroll down to Software, then select Applications. However, it is believed that the 32-bit apps won't work as well as they use to before. One of the items is 64-bit (Intel). "Yes" indicates 64-bit; "No" indicates 32-bit. The alert is similar to the ones that appeared when Apple transitioned iOS from 32-bit to 64-bit.
