Apple ordered to pay VirnetX $502 million in latest patent lawsuit verdict

VirnetX shares surge as jury says Apple infringed patents: report Apple Owes VirnetX $502M for Patent Infringements

Incidentally, in the fourth quarter of a year ago, the U.S. District Court had ordered Apple Inc.to pay almost Dollars 439.

VirnetX Holding Corporation-a Nevada company that many would dub a "patent troll" as it has no meaningful source of income outside of patent litigation-has won a $502.6 million judgement against Apple in a legal case that has dragged on since 2012.

VirnetX is a patent-assertion entity, meaning its entire business model rests exclusively on suing companies that actually develop and sell products based on arcane patent infringement laws and loose interpretations of intellectual property regulations.

Apple's lawyers have yet to respond to Bloomberg's request for comment on this week's development, but it's safe to say that if it's possible, the iPhone-maker will appeal the judgment. It now looks as though Apple may end up paying more than double that for the legal action to end. But if that ruling stands, the newest victory will be short-lived. Apple emerged victorious over Samsung after it took the South Korean consumer tech giant to court for stealing its designs and technologies, but the company got a taste of its own medicine this week. We don't know if this decision will stick since the Patent Trial and Appeal Board has already invalidated the patents involved in this case far before the Texas court handed down the verdict.

I read how she often gave shelter to people who were fighting in the struggle and comforted women whose young children had died . Winnie and Nelson separated in 1992 after the latter accused the former of infidelity and they divorced in 1996.

Presently, Apple had once again chose to challenge the judgement of the US district court in the Federal Court of Texas.

Kendall Larsen, CEO of VirnetX, said the damages, which were based on sales of more than 400 million Apple devices, were "fair".

A few months later, a federal jury in Texas ordered Apple to pay up again, but this time in total amount of $302.4 million.
