Chris Mellon, TTSA adviser and former deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence under presidents Clinton and George W. Bush, criticized the national security agencies for not researching what is behind the odd objects in the sky, ABC News reported.

In October 2017, Luis Elizondo, the former head of the Pentagon intelligence program investigating UFOs resigned to protest what he described excessive secrecy surrounding the program, and internal opposition to it, the New York Times reported.

The Department of Defence declined to comment on the video, which appears to show an object skimming at very high speed over ocean waves, to the delight and shock of the United States military observers.

The footage was captured by the pilots of an F/A-18 Super Hornet combat jet off the U.S. East Coast in 2015.

"Wow, what is that man?" one pilot can be heard saying.

The objects, which the pilots initially suspected as being drones of some sort, appear to hover briefly before zipping away at speeds that elicit gasps from the pilots, the Washington Post reported.

While the Department of Defence has declined to comment on the latest video, the agency did confirm to ABC News that the US government had run a program for investigating reports of UFOs until 2012.

The Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program was created as part of the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2007, following a request by Harry Reid, the Nevada Senator at the time.

"What the [expletive] is that thing?!" a pilot exclaims after the sensor locks-on to the fast moving object. Or might these released videos "be evidence of some alien civilization".

Hammond hails 'light at the end of the tunnel' for economy
Chancellor Phillip Hammond has called for a deeper look at how tech giants such as Google and Facebook are taxed. The economy has seen higher employment and lower unemployment, adding 3 million jobs, he said.

"We have no idea, because we aren't even seeking answers".

"Nobody wants to be ridiculed or sidelined for drawing attention to the issue".

In his resignation letter, Elizondo said the government should start taking "the many accounts from the Navy and other services of unusual aerial systems interfering with military weapon platforms and displaying beyond-next-generation capabilities" more seriously.

"There is no Pentagon process for synthesising all the observations the military is making. This is true up and down the chain of command, and it is a serious and recurring impediment to progress", he said.

"What we lack above all is recognition that this issue warrants a serious collection and analysis effort".

According to USA Today, pilots David Fravor and Commander Jim Slaight said of one of those encounters that they'd seen an oval-shaped object flying over the sea.

"The DoD takes seriously all threats and potential threats to our people, our assets, and our mission and takes action whenever credible information is developed".

The release comes just months after the New York Times published two other declassified videos that show alleged encounters between Navy pilots and UFOs.

Scientists have stressed that unexplained phenomena are not proof of interstellar visitors.
