Russian Federation claims successful test of 'invincible' missile

Putin's 'Ukrainians, Tatars, Jews' Remark Triggers Backlash Dems Urge Trump to Extradite Russian Officials Indicted by Mueller

The Russian defence ministry released video footage showing the missile detaching from a fighter jet and leaving a fiery trail behind it.

Russian Federation says it successfully completed a test launch of the hypersonic missile President Vladimir Putin touted as an "ideal weapon" in early March.

Russian Federation has launched a powerful new missile. "The launch was successful, the hypersonic missile hit the designated target at the field", the statement added.

Russian Federation has claimed overnight it successfully launched a hypersonic missile which President Vladimir Putin called "an ideal weapon" as he unveiled a new array of next-generation arms earlier this month.

The Kinzhal hypersonic missile was launched from an MiG-31 interceptor jet, which departed from an airfield in the Southern Military District, Russia's TASS News Agency reported. The Kh-47M2 Kinzhal (Dagger) system is called "an ideal weapon" by President Vladimir Putin as he unveiled a new array of next-generation arms earlier this month.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the southern military district has had possession of the missile since the beginning of December.

Turkish trial against opposition newspaper resumes
One defendant was acquitted while no verdict was issued against three defendants who are on the run and were on trial in absentia. Ankara says Gulen and his network were behind the failed coup attempt of July 2016 during which 250 people were killed.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Facebook that work had also been done to modernise the "unique" MiG-31 supersonic jet that will carry the missile.

"Crews of the air system on the testing air alert sorties completed over 250 flights year-to-date under the combat training plan".

Kinzhal air system crews have conducted hundreds of tests emulating attacks made from a position of defense.

The U.S. Defense Secretary, James Mattis, said that nothing Putin showed off changed anything from the Pentagon's perspective, as he spoke to reporters as he traveled to Oman.

"Performance characteristics and time indicators of the Kinzhal high-precision airborne missile system were confirmed during the hypersonic missile launch", the ministry said.

Putin in his address said Russian Federation is developing missiles and underwater drones, among other weapons, because the US pulled out of the 1972 anti-ballistic missile treaty it had signed with the Soviet Union.
