Harvey Weinstein lawsuit: attorney general says 'we have never seen anything as despicable' Schneiderman lawsuit gives hope for victims of Weinstein horror show

New York's attorney general has filed a lawsuit against Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein and the Weinstein Co following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.

"You don't know what I can do", he allegedly said.

The source also said Contreras-Sweet was in talks with the attorney general's office over the weekend and was scheduled to have a longer conversation Monday about the deal, which would include setting up an all-female board and providing compensation.

The sale of the Weinstein Company, which has over 250 employees, to the investment group was reportedly imminent, but on hold Sunday in light of the lawsuit, according to a source familiar with the deal.

The investor group, led by Maria Contreras-Sweet, best known for handling the Small Business Administration under former U S President Barack Obama, has publicly said it would create a multi-million dollar settlement fund for women who have accused Weinstein of abuse.

His attorney released a statement saying numerous allegations against his client are "without merit".

"While Mr. Weinstein's behavior was not without fault, there certainly was no criminality, and at the end of the inquiry it will be clear that Harvey Weinstein promoted more women to key executive positions than any other industry leader and there was zero discrimination at either Miramax or [The Weinstein Company]", Brafman said in a statement.

Gas could be found for $2.50 or less at 53 percent of gas stations across the country, the motor club said in a statement . Drivers in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton market paid the state's highest average price, at $2.74.

The lawsuit comes four months after the Hollywood mogul's career ended over allegations of sexual harassment, assault and rape now levelled by more than 100 women spanning 40 years.

Mr Schneiderman sued Harvey Weinstein and his company, adding to the embattled movie producer's legal troubles and dealing a major setback to efforts to find a buyer for the Weinstein company and avert its bankruptcy. "If the objective however is to scapegoat Mr. Weinstein, he will vigorously defend himself".

"If the goal of the inquiry is to encourage reform throughout the film industry, Mr. Weinstein will embrace the investigation".

The court papers describe Weinstein as a kingmaker who could "essentially blacklist a person across the industry" if they crossed him and that he could use his roster of powerful people to enact reprisals. The company later fired Weinstein.

Schneiderman said he believed the potential purchasers of the firm would now take into account "the facts we have alleged and now understand they have more on their hands than they initially realized". "We were told that the physical personnel file has gone missing", Schneidermann said. He and his brother, Robert, still own a large chunk of the company.

"As of yesterday there was no deal that would have met these standards", Schneiderman said.
