Lokendra Singh Kalvi, Karni Sena chief, had alleged that the CBFC cleared Padmaavat with a U/A certification and a few minor cuts despite opposition from the advisory panel they appointed to review the film's historical accuracy. However, political parties and Hindu groups are not happy with the censor board's green signal to the film. "They had suggested five modifications", Viacom18 Media Pvt. Padmaavat's release date was postponed after several Rajput outfits claimed that the film has historical inaccuracies and it allegedly portrays a romantic sequence between Rani Padmini (Deepika Padukone) and Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh), which director Sanjay Leela Bhansali denied.

Karni Sena members continue to protest against Padmaavat and want a complete ban for Bhansali's film. Moreover, the organisation has made a decision to impose "Janata Curfew" or people's curfew at cinema halls, which chose to screen the movie. Amongst the suggested modifications was the title change of the film.

Prasoon Joshi, the Chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification said that the certification process of Padmavat is complete and news about 300 cuts is false. The committee made by the CBFC watched the movie and said the movie was vulgar and the facts were distorted. Padmavat might get a better opening at the box office or might beat Padman in its theatrical run but due to its controlled budget and pre-sold rights like overseas, music and satellite and others, Padman will definitely emerge as a clear victor and will easily become one of the most profitable films of the year.

The movie is now scheduled to release on Jan 25.

The makers, however, are not sticking to the suggested "Padmavat" and have added another "a", making it "Padmaavat", if we go by the film's official Twitter handle. Ltd said in a statement issued here today.

It is co-produced by Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.

Some of the earlier speculations had stated that the film will be named as Padmavat, after the 16th century poem that the film is reportedly an adoption of.
