In his first statements since the beginning of the crisis, the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accused on Tuesday the "enemies of Iran" of meddling in the affairs of the country.

The President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, boldly stated that the Iranian people were free to criticise the Regime in non-violent ways, but there are scores of peaceful protesters trapped in Iranian prisons for just that.

"The people have little food, big inflation, and no human rights".

President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday morning to express support for protesters demonstrating against the Iranian government, writing, "The U.S.is watching". The people of Iran are crying out for freedom.

"We want to encourage the protesters to continue to fight for what's right and to open up Iran", Goldstein said. There was no apparent evidence of cracks in Iran's ruling network of clerics and security networks, including the powerful Revolutionary Guard, whose influence extends deep into Iran's economy and policymaking.

"Instead of wasting his time sending useless and insulting tweets regarding other countries, he would be better off seeing to the domestic issues of his own country such as daily killings of dozens of people. and the existence of millions of homeless and hungry people", Bahram Ghasemi said, according to AFP.

The internet and social media are still cut off and the Iranian people are rising up against an oppressive terrorist supporting regime.

The attack on the police station in the town of Qahderijan, in the central province of Isfahan, led to violence that claimed the lives of six protesters, the state broadcaster reported.

He is asking the Iranian Government to show respect to the citizens protesting and to use minimum violence and to investigate any acts of violence that occur. This number has risen dramatically after tens of thousands of people joined the protests, which began last week. This is the biggest protests the country has seen since the unrest in 2009 following the re-election of then-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence is calling on young Iranians involved in street protests against the government in Tehran to view the United States as a "natural ally" in their quest for freedom and democracy.

Significantly, the protests involve the working class who have traditionally been the bedrock of support for Iran's conservative regime.

On Sunday evening, several hundred people gathered in the capital Tehran and the western city of Khorramabad in the fourth day of demonstrations, ignoring warnings of a crackdown on unlawful protests.

But some Tehranis said U.S. claims they were desperate for freedom were overblown.

The protests have also taken many in the world by surprise as Iran keeps a tight control on the flow of information through its state-regulated media.

"If the USA intervenes in any shape or form, or even supports some faction against another, the hardliners in Iran will use that as an excuse" for more violence, he said. They show how discontented Iranians are with increasing poverty, after years of repression.

As a member of Congress at the time, Pence said he co-sponsored a resolution that passed almost unanimously in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives offering support for the Iranian protesters, in a move that he said prompted the Obama administration to also start voicing its support.
