Michael Douglas found out that a story was going to be run about sexual allegations towards him, so the Ant-Man actor was quick to release a statement before the piece came out.

According to the industry website Deadline, the actor and producer has claimed that he's facing false, "tawdry" allegations of sexual misconduct made by a former employee.

The accusation by the unidentified woman has not been published but Douglas said he had been informed by his attorneys in December that The Hollywood Reporter and other publications were investigating her claim. None of it was directed at her; she didn't say it was.

Douglas denies ever blackballing her and strongly denies that he ever masturbated in front of her.

When Douglas found out that an employee he had from over 30 years ago was telling publications that he once masturbated in front of her, he didn't wait for the story to be printed and the likely consequences that would follow it. Douglas admitted to using swear words but pointed out that he is not accused of swearing at her, but rather in front of her when speaking on the phone to others.

"I pride myself of being so supportive of the women's movement", Douglas told the online magazine Deadline. He said instead of waiting for a story to emerge he wanted to "share with the public, a little ahead of the story, my thoughts and concerns". "Masturbating in front of her?" Douglas denies this, and he sounds pretty indignant about it even being said.

India may revive canceled $500 million deal for Israeli missiles
Netanyahu will be accompanied by a 130-member delegation drawn from the cyber and agriculture sectors as well as from defense. The envoy also said that sometimes India comes with a request (at the UN) and sometimes Israel does.

'It's extremely painful, ' Douglas went on.

The allegations eventually led to the #MeToo movement where women from across numerous industries have made sexual harassment and assault charges against men in power, leading to their firings or departures.

Douglas has played many parts over the years, but The Today Show reports that he recently took on a new role: grandfather.

'I'm upset. It wasn't the new year I had anticipated. He also warns that printing a story when a man can not defend himself would be a step back for the #metoo movement.

Douglas was noticeably absent from Sunday night's Golden Globe awards where his wife, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, accompanied by his legendary father, 101-year-old actor Kirk Douglas, presented one of the awards.

"Being accused, without a chance (to defend yourself) in court. And also, I think it really sends a message out". There is no due process, no chance of seeing evidence in front of me from my accuser.
