"Executive Time": White House Rebrands the Hours Trump Spends on Twitter

Trump reportedly starts his days later because he wants more 'executive time' to watch TV and go on Twitter Trump Reportedly Starting Work Day Later to Spend Mornings on 'TV and Twitter Time'

George W. Bush typically arrived in the Oval by 6:45 a.m., and Barack Obama worked out in the morning before arriving at the Oval between 9 and 10 a.m., according to a former senior aide.

The first part of Trump's day is known as "Executive Time".

The schedule is vastly different from the official one handed out to journalists, which suggests Trump's day begins with executive time at 8am. "Trump comes down for his first meeting of the day, which is often an intelligence briefing, at 11am".

Others, though, took a more serious angle, highlighting the fact that while Trump appears to devote a shrinkingly small amount of time to working, the White House and congressional Republicans are looking to "impose more onerous work requirements" on Medicaid recipients. This doesn't necessarily mean he's not working, but in Swan's words, he spends the hours "generally taking the same loose, improvisational approach to being president that he took to running the Trump Organization for so many years".

According to Axios, executive time consists of "watching TV, making phone calls and tweeting". She also insisted that his mornings always include him having calls with "staff, Hill members, cabinet members and foreign leaders".

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders hit back at the claims, describing Trump as "one of the hardest workers I've ever seen".

Responding to the report, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called President Trump "one of the hardest workers I've ever seen" who "puts in long hours and long days almost every day of the week all year long".

The timings chime with other U.S. media reports.

According to Axios, Trump likes to have a morning lie-in so he can watch television and get on with trolling the world on Twitter. He flips to CNN for news, moves to "Fox & Friends" for comfort and messaging ideas, and sometimes watches MSNBC's "Morning Joe" because, friends suspect, it fires him up for the day.

The White House has denounced Wolff's book in the strongest terms, dubbing it "trashy tabloid fiction".
