The popular UC Browser, owned by China's Alibaba, has mysteriously gone missing from Google Play Store, and nobody seems to know why. Although, the question that remain is how well does UC Browser fare against Google Chrome?

UC Browser's disappearance was first spotted by the eagle-eyed netizens on Reddit, and its users have an interesting theory. Earlier this month, it was reported that the browser had crossed over 500 million downloads and the sixth most downloaded application in India on the Play store.

While Chrome has since reinstated some of its dominance, back in June, UC Browser became India's favourite mobile browser and at one point grasped over 50 percent market share. The user mentions that the browser has been temporarily removed from the Play Store for 30 days because it used "misleading" and "unhealthy" methods of promotion to increase the number of installs.

But Maxwell lasted only one season in Philadelphia, shipped off to Miami along with Kiko Alonso in what amounted to salary dumps. The 29-year-old has gone through a workout with Seattle on Monday morning prior to re-signing with the team.

UC Browser has come under scrutiny regarding data security concerns in the past.

A report by Android Authority states that UCWeb claims that Indian users make up 100 million of its total monthly active users from around the world, with the latter figure reportedly reaching 420 million, per reports from 2016. However, Android Police's founder Artem Russakovskii posted about an email from UC Union (which is the company's network affiliate) which talks about UC Browser using "Malicious Promotion" methods.

Having said that, UC Browser also happens to be a popular mobile browser in India. Reports also claimed that UC Browser collects data even after a user uninstalls the app or even cleans the browsing data. Like sending user data back to China, something that China-based application developers often get accused of in addition to shady practices like tag-jacking (so as to top app store searches), using misleading names, copying the names of popular apps and lots and lots of ads (including lock screen ones that just won't go away).
