Manchester United are "increasingly resigned" to the prospect of Marouane Fellaini leaving the club for free next summer.

United tabled a new two-year deal for the Belgium global in September but despite Jose Mourinho making it clear he remains a vital member of his squad, Fellaini wants to move on.

Fellaini feels he's worth more than the club's latest contract offer, which was a small increase on his current £100,000-a-week pay.

United have not given up hope that he will agree new terms, but sources told ESPN FC they were prepared to risk losing him for nothing rather than pushing for a fee in January.

Magnitude 5.4 quake hits Korea's southeastern coastal city of Pohang
The Pohang natural disaster is the strongest Korea has experienced since 2016, after the magnitude 5.8 quake in Gyeongju. Around 2:50pm (local time) a third aftershock with a magnitude of 3.6 was detected about 7 kilometers north of Pohang.

It means he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club when the January transfer window opens.

However, he re-established himself under Louis van Gaal and has taken his game to a new level under Jose Mourinho who has praised the player's strength of character. Inter Milan and Besiktas are also interested.

Fellaini has repaid Mourinho's faith with key goals and contributions, while the United boss praised him after returning from a knee injury to feature off the bench in the 1-0 loss at Chelsea before the worldwide break.

United boss Jose Mourinho is said to have launched a charm offensive earlier this month in a desperate attempt to persuade the midfielder to remain at Old Trafford for another year, but Sky Sports News reports that his public ploy has not worked so far.
