Antares Rocket Launch Scrubbed Until Sunday Morning

Orbital ATK's Cygnus mission will be launched on Sunday morning after scrubbing its original lift-off on Saturday.

The Virginia-based company will try again Sunday morning to launch its unmanned Antares rocket with 7,400 pounds of cargo.

Temperatures at Wallops Island are forecast to be around 30 F on Saturday night ahead of the launch, but temperatures farther inland will drop into the 20s.

The launch of @OrbitalATK's Antares rocket carrying the Cygnus cargo spacecraft has scrubbed for Saturday after an aircraft was detected in the vicinity of the launch pad. Live launch coverage will begin at 7 a.m. on NASA Television and the agency's website. FAA is investigating the incident. But at the last minute, a plane flew into the restricted airspace at Wallops Island. "We are now de-tanking and will be ready to go tomorrow morning".

This is Orbital's eighth commercial resupply mission to the ISS under a $1.9 billion contract with NASA. The launch has been rescheduled for Sunday, November 12 at 7:14 a.m.

To study microgravity's effect on bacterial antibiotic resistance, scientists are set to send E. coli, a common bacterial pathogen linked to urinary tract infections and foodborne illnesses, to the International Space Station (ISS). The spacecraft will remain attached to the ISS for one month.
