"Any individual who feels that she may have been the victim of a crime by this person in Manhattan is strongly encouraged to contact our Office's Sex Crimes Hotline at (212) 335-9373", Agnifilo said. So far, more than 20 women have come forward against the producer.

Representatives for both Vance and Boies say the attorney had no involvement and never contacted prosecutors in 2015 when police investigated a model's accusation that Weinstein grabbed her breasts during a meeting in NY.

New York City police targeted Weinstein in a short sting operation in 2015 after the model accused him of groping her.

The chief of detectives with the NYPD has ordered the Special Victims Unit to take another look at some of the claims made while Manhattan District Attorney, Cyrus Vance, is having to answer why the charges were never filed.

"We really did what I think the law obligates us to do - focus on the evidence and the facts that we had", he said. "It's a case that made me angrier than I thought possible, and I have been on the force a long time". A man who had power over scores of women and their careers.

Sexual assault survivors will rally Friday outside the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance. The recording was obtained by The New Yorker and posted on the magazine's website Tuesday. "Subsequent investigative steps undertaken in order to establish intent were not successful". Thanks to NYPD bungling, Freidman-Agnifilo concludes, their office had "no choice but to conclude the investigation without criminal charges".

But damned if the picture drawn in sound - the woman's agonized refusals ("I don't want to be touched"), the mogul's disgusting assertion that forcibly touching women without permission is just the way he works ("I'm used to that") - doesn't convey the chilling message to the women of NY that the law treads more lightly when the suspect in question is a wealthy and powerful bulldozer prepared to drag accusers through deep mud.

Many expressed outrage over Vance's role in both cases. But Vance's office said donations have never influenced his decisions.

The NYPD confirmed that it investigated a "misdemeanor sexual abuse complaint against Harvey Weinstein" in March 2015. Vance's communication director added that, "David Boies did not represent Harvey Weinstein in 2015 during the criminal investigation".

Despite the audio recording, the DA's office declined to pursue the case. The investigation began in 2010.

But less than six months after the D.A.'s office dropped the case, Kasowitz made an even larger donation to Vance's campaign, and helped raise more from others-eventually, a total of more than $50,000.
"I did not at the time believe beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime had been committed", he told the New Yorker.

"Obviously [it] calls for an opportunity like this for me to rethink with my assistants how we wish to handle this now going forward", he said.

Vance is up for reelection for a third term in November and he's now running unopposed.
