He also admitted to sending materials through the mail and traveling from Canada to the United States as part of the plot.

According to criminal complaints and court papers unsealed Friday, the trio purchased bomb-making materials, moved money, secured a safe house outside NY to make explosives and traveled outside the U.S.to further the plot.

A Canadian teen who pleaded guilty to terrorism-related charges in connection with a plot to attack New York City landmarks has met in prison with Alberta lawyer Dennis Edney, who previously defended Omar Khadr, CTV News has learned.

The three men, a 19-year old Canadian citizen named Abdulrahman El Bahnasawy, a 19-year old US citizen named Talha Haroon, and a 37-year old Philippine citizen named Russell Salic, allegedly communicated through a variety of internet messaging applications, which they used to plot their attacks. All three men have been arrested and one has pled guilty.

The complaints unsealed Friday did not name the New York City venues.

El Bahnasawy, a Canadian citizen, pleaded guilty in October 2016 to terrorism charges stemming from the investigation and is awaiting sentencing.

He also said that same day that he wanted to "shoot up concerts cuz they kill a lot of people. we just walk in with guns in our hands". Proceedings for his extradition to the United States are now pending in Pakistan.

Petroleum dealers strike on October13
S Ramesh, BPCL director (marketing), said even if there was a strike this Friday, it will not be "total". Petrol pump owners have withdrawn their strike after tough stance taken by oil marketers.

The attacks were to be carried out during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan in summer 2016, authorities said. The trio also talked about blowing up a vehicle in Times Square. "That's how Paris guys did it", the papers said in an apparent reference to the slaughter by men armed with assault weapons at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris during a performance of the rock group Eagles of Death Metal in 2015.

Haroon, meanwhile, told the undercover agent that he saw the subway as a "perfect" target for the attack, and that they should shoot as many train riders as possible before setting off suicide vests.

Around the same time, the two allegedly had been talking with Salic, known as "the doctor", about getting money to carry out the attack.

The trio was prevented from executing their plans to attack New York City because of an undercover agent from Federal Bureau of Investigation who pretended to be an ISIS supporter and came in contact with them.

Read the whole story from The New York Times.

In late August, his lawyers argued for more time to prepare for sentencing, saying a psychiatrist and a clinical psychologist "need more time for their work with Mr. El Bahnasawy to be helpful and meaningful to the court". Haroon is a US citizen who had been living in Pakistan who was arrested there in September 2016. All three men were charged with seven terror-related counts, including conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction.

Save for an unspecified amount of time spent in an inpatient drug treatment program, his lawyers said the teen lived with his parents, Osama El Bahnasawy, Khadiga Metwally, and his older sister, Basma El Bahnasawy, for his entire life.
