The petrol traders had chose to shut their services on October 13 preventing any fuel sale or purchase on the day, they had also planned to go on an indefinite strike if their demands were not met.
Addressing mediapersons here today, the president of NEIPDA (Upper Assam chapter) Samiran Bordoloi said that 1422 outlets under the NEIPDA across the north-eastern region will remain closed on Friday as the association has chose to support the strike call given by UPF seeking fulfilment of pending demands ignored by the state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) since an agreement was signed last November. The strike was called protesting against discrepancies in supply and demand to include petroleum products under the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
