All charges were read out to him by Judge Mohammad Bashir.

Dar replied that over the course of the trial he would prove the charges wrong through hard evidence.

Two of Sharif's sons and Maryam are also due to appear before a NAB court, as well as Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, a long-time ally who is married into the Sharif family. The hearing was adjourned till Oct.4.

Though Sharif and his children have publicly expressed concern over the Supreme Court judgement and had filed review petitions before the same bench, the petitions were all dismissed on September 15.

Dar reached the court a little before 9am amid tight security arrangements and faced trouble getting into the court complex owing to the huge crowd.
