ISIS Chief Calls On Jihadists To 'Resist', In Apparent Recording

ISIS releases recording of leader al-Baghdadi Is Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi still alive? ISIS chief's new audio message sparks speculation

Islamic State leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi has mocked the United States, called on the jihadis to rally against the Syrian regime and insisted that the ISIS "remains" despite its rapid loss of territory, while also exhorting followers to stand fast and keep fighting, in his first purported, and undated, audio communication in nearly a year.

Al-Baghdadi's last recording was in November 2016, two weeks after the start of the battle to recapture the city of Mosul from Islamic State (IS).

It remains unclear when the message was recorded.

USA -backed Iraqi forces have since defeated Islamic State in Mosul, where Baghdadi declared a self-styled caliphate three years ago. Rebel forces have also pushed progressively deeper into Raqqa, ISIS' so-called capital.

Thai PM says former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is in Dubai
But a source in the United Arab Emirates said Yingluck left Dubai for London on September 11, without giving further details. Yingluck, 50, had not attended court hearings, fueling rumors that she had fled overseas , like her brother.

In it, the apparent ISIS leader lashed out at "infidel nations headed by America, Russia and Iran" who, along with their allies, have inflicted losses on the jihadists during separate anti-ISIS offensives against ISIS in Syria and Iraq. According to the Guardian, he hasn't been seen in public since 2014. He's now believed to be hiding in the desert between Raqqa and Mosul.

The New York Times notes the speech also appeared to make "indirect references to recent attacks on the Underground in London, in the heart of Barcelona and in Russian Federation".

The 46-minute sermon by al-Baghdadi published on Youtube and the Telegram app called for his followers to rally to not "allow lives lost in Mosul, Sirte, Raqqa, and Hama be lost in vain".

"We're looking for him every day", Townsend said last month.
