The top-ranked Crimson Tide followed last weekend's 41-10 dismantling of Fresno State with a 41-23 dumping of Colorado State on Saturday night inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Hurts delivered his best all-around game of the season.

The Crimson Tide countered CSU's second-quarter surge with a 52-yard touchdown pass from Hurts to Robert Foster with 1:00 left in the half that made it 24-10.

The Rams' first non-penalty first down didn't come until 29 seconds into the second quarter on an 11-yard pass from senior quarterback Nick Stevens to running back Dalyn Dawkins to get across midfield for the first time.

The Tide needed just 10 minutes and a few big plays from Hurts to race to a 17-0 lead.

NOTES: After missing the first two games, Alabama RB Josh Jacobs (hamstring) earned the start Saturday.

The rest of the game was more competitive in Alabama's second straight matchup against a team from the Mountain West Conference. Rams quarterback Nick Stevens sailed a pass that landed in the hands of safety Hootie Jones, who returned the ball deep into Colorado State territory. The Tide had gone 12 consecutive contests without scoring a touchdown on their opening possession until striking on their first drive last week.

"In the second half, first two possessions we drive down the field and turn the ball over, which really killed us", Colorado State coach Mike Bobo said.

The Tide came up empty on its next drive, while the Rams responded with an 11-play 85 yard drive that ended with a four-yard touchdown run, cutting the Alabama lead to seven with 2:18 on the clock.

Alabama: It wasn't a typical Bama defensive performance. His long carry of the game was a 17-yarder, and he had a nine-yard touchdown in the middle of the third to give Alabama a 31-10 lead.

CSU added a touchdown with 9:53 left in the on the clock on a five-yard run on fourth down, to make it 41-17.

Ridley moved into a tie with Pro Football Hall of Famer Ozzie Newsome for fourth on Alabama's career list with his 16th touchdown catch.

The Rams went three-and-out on their first possession but used a 65-yard Ryan Stonehouse punt to pin Alabama at its 5.

One week after that score, Foster suffered a torn rotator cuff when he landed awkwardly early in the first half against Ole Miss to end a sophomore season that started so well.

Colorado State: off next weekend before traveling to Hawaii.
