Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) getting Android 7.0 Nougat update in India

The BlackBerry Priv was one of BlackBerry's first Android devices - it carried the same design language from the Canadian company, but it was one of their first to try Android, all in 2015. But time goes on and hardware component of the phone is not so impressive, plus it became known today that he will never get official update of its software. Canadian smartphone maker Blackberry launched its much awaited Android smartphone BlackBerry Priv in India in January a year ago. This was a smartphone that was released in 2015 with Lollipop and while it did get updated to Marshmallow, it doesn't look like it will be updated to Nougat.

This is the type of bad news we're seeing with the BlackBerry Priv now as well.

Any BlackBerry Priv users out there?

We don't know much else about the device, but it likely will pack a Snapdragon 624 SoC, 4GB RAM and a 4,000mAh battery, and will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. For the most part, it was a great first step into the market but since then the company has made a decision to step away from making smartphones and has started licensing their brand to other smartphone makers.

Alex Thurber commented as to how getting updates for these devices was a complicated process including partnerships with Carriers and chipset makers. Nevertheless, the BlackBerry General Manager did mention that BlackBerry was still committed to providing security updates for the device as well as for other DTEK smartphones.

The Priv was debuted as a hybrid model by BlackBerry, with a curved-edge display and a physical slide-out keyboard. It has an 18MP rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front camera for selfies. It's on board storage stands at 32GB which can be expanded up to 200GB using a microSD card. Based on the BlackBerry KEYone, it turned out great, says BlackBerry.

There was some good news to come out of the, er, "Blogcast", though.
