"If the president really wants to execute that legislative agenda that I think is so promising for the American people, the lower-middle class people and the middle class people, then he has to move away from that sort of Bannon-bart nonsense", Scaramucci said in an interview with "This Week" on Sunday.

A former Wall Street financier, Mr Scaramucci was sacked from his job at the end of a chaotic 10 days which started with White House press secretary Steve Spicer resigning.

It's his decision, but at the end of the day, the president has a very good idea of who the leakers are inside the White House.

White House National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster wouldn't say whether he could work with chief strategist Steve Bannon Sunday on "Meet The Press", dodging the question three times.

"I think the President knows what he's going to do with Steve Bannon", Scaramucci said.

"Can you and Steve Bannon still work together", Todd asked.

But Scaramucci said he thought the interview with reporter Ryan Lizza was off the record.

The "many sides" part is what drew a strong rebuke from those who believed the president needed to specifically lay blame at the feet of the "alt-right" gathering to protest the removal of a statute of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

Many of them are fleeing war and persecution while others are seeking better economic opportunities. Humanitarian groups say migrants returned to Libya risk inhumane treatment.

"I think there are elements inside of Washington, also inclusive in the White House, that are not necessarily abetting the president's interests or his agenda".

Scaramucci blasted Bannon in an oft-quoted New Yorker interview that featured the man known as "the Mooch" uttering blue language. He has got to move more to the mainstream He has to be where the moderates and independents are that love the president.

Scaramucci, who was sacked after a vulgar recording of him slamming Bannon was published by The New Yorker, would not say whether the president will fire Bannon, but did say that he spoke with Trump this week.

STEPHANOPOULOS: You've been tough on Steve Bannon.

The Mooch also looked towards his future, saying he might write "an uplifting book, a positive book that helps people", and suggesting that Lorne Michaels "call [him]" to discuss a guest spot on SNL. If he does that, he'll have a successful legislative agenda that he can execute.

He added that it's not serving the President's interests to still have that wing around.

"I think he needed to be much harsher as it related to the white supremacists and the nature of that", Scaramucci said on ABC's "This Week". And if he doesn't do that, you're going to see this inertia and you're going to see this resistance from more of the establishment senators that he needs to curry favor with.
