The post PDP may extend Makarfi's tenure, discuss others at Saturday's Natl Convention appeared first on Vanguard News.

One of such issues is the proposal for the extension of the tenure of office of the National Caretaker Committee headed by former governor of Kaduna state, Ahmed Makarfi to at least four months in order to allow time to prepare and conduct an elective National Convention to elect new officers for the PDP.

Senator Okowa and other party members reportedly set up "Another review committee to study the report of the constitution review committee and make recommendations as to how some positions would be zoned to the various regions".

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday condemned what it called use of media propaganda by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a tool for fighting corruption.

"Even if I will be the last man standing in the PDP, I will remain in PDP". With PDP you can't be hungry.

The former President believed the present administration mismanaged the economy, which he attributed to the current hunger, unemployment, inflation and insecurity in the land.

We didn't do well to stop corruption – Goodluck Jonathan finally admits

On the re-emergence of the Boko Haram insurgency, Adeyeye said prior to the 2015 general elections, the PDP government under President Goodluck Jonathan "held elections in every local government area in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states, the base of the terrorist sect, a development he said showed that the PDP government had routed the terrorist group before that election".

"As a human institution, we can not claim to be flawless and as a political party, our accomplishments up to 2015 are clear for every Nigerian to see, " he said. We need to stay the course of our goals with planning, passion, pursuit, partnership and perseverance.

Jonathan said that the country was able to regain its goodwill internationally because the PDP pursued programmes and policies that were not only rewarding but were copied by other countries across the globe. We have done well from the time of Obasanjo to Yaradua and to my time. We shall NOT disappoint you!

"In 2012, we witnessed the largest flood that no Nigerian alive has ever seen. We have delegates from the Africa Union (AU), the United Nations (UN) and the rest of the worldwide community", he added. "More than 50 percent of our farmlands were devastated and the whole world was alarmed, not just Nigerians".

"If we say that we rekindled hope in our country and regained worldwide goodwill, it is because we pursued a number of policies and programmes that were not only richly rewarding for our people but were also being copied by many other countries across the globe".

The second advantage of our wilderness experience is that Nigerians have had the opportunity of experiencing another party govern at the national level.
