Fulton Chairman Wants Criminal Investigation Of Singer R. Kelly

Official Calls for Criminal Investigation into R. Kelly's Police report spurs call for R. Kelly investigation in Atlanta

He recently announced that the John Creeks Police Department has put together a file on the matter, which it's given to the district attorney.

UPDATE (8/11, 2:25 p.m. EDT): Despite the call for an official investigation, police have now said there is no new evidence in the R. Kelly case, directly contradicting what Eaves told reporters earlier today, TMZ reports.

In a new statement sent to USA TODAY by Kelly's rep, Trevian Kutti, the singer said he is "outraged" by efforts of the county board and Eaves "to interfere with his business interests and now, absent any authority, attempt to have him targeted for investigation".

A spokesman for the John's Creek Police Department said in an email to The Independent that "there is absolutely no new evidence against R Kelly".

He further said, "Pakistan Army again initiated unprovoked firing on Indian Army posts in Krishna Ghati sector at around 5 pm". According to defence ministry sources, the Pakistani troops resorted to heavy unprovoked firing at about 5 am.

Live Nation did not immediately respond to request for comment.

The Fulton County District Attorney's Office says it's evaluating an "informational file" involving Kelly from the police department but is not actively investigating.

Eaves said "a lot of folks" contacted him and urged a more thorough probe. The women say they live in properties rented by Kelly in Chicago and suburban Atlanta, with Kelly dictating what they eat, how they dress, when they sleep and their sexual encounters. "We gave them everything (we) had". According to Jim DeRogatis' investigative piece, parents of the alleged victims filed reports with the police and Federal Bureau of Investigation, claiming the singer was running an "abusive cult" that was "tearing families apart". "If we won't protect our young girls and young women, who will?" She also said she did not know the other woman mentioned by her family. He has also previously been accused of marrying his manager's teen niece, singer Aaliyah. "Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name". Kelly said the two were "best friends, deep friends", and admitted that he was in love with her "just like I was in love with anybody else".

"The natural progression typically when there is some evidence that law enforcement has that may be of a felony nature, it's important to go to the district attorney, so there's a natural progression", he said at a press conference on Friday.
