Anthony Scaramucci defends brief White House stay in interview

Asked by Stephanopoulos whether that included Bannon, Scaramucci said, "Well, yes".

"I think he needed to be much harsher as it relates to the white supremacists", Scaramucci said on ABC's "This Week". It's his decision, but at the end of the day, the president has a very good idea of who the leakers are inside the White House.

Scaramucci said as White House communications director he "wouldn't have recommended" the statement Trump gave, and applauded National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster's characterization of the violence as terrorism. But you've also got this sort of Bannon-bart influence in there, which I think is a snag on the president. It's not serving the president's interests.

SCARAMUCCI: Let's leave it up to the president.

STEPHANOPOULOS: You have been tough on Steve Bannon, does he have to go?

Scaramucci insisted he was unaware the interview was being recorded and hit out at The New Yorker journalist Ryan Lizza after the interview was published, taking to Twitter to describe Lizza as the "Linda Tripp of 2017" and insisting "He absolutely taped the call without my permission", adding #lowlife.

In his first interview since being fired from the Trump administration after less than two weeks on the job, Scaramucci looked on, sometimes ruefully nodding and smiling, as host George Stephanopoulos played some of the more colorful parts of the vulgar interview that led to his dismissal.

"What happens in Washington.is the president is not a representative of the political establishment class, so for whatever reason the people have made a decision that they want to eject him", Scaramucci said in the ABC News interview on Sunday.

He said he is accountable for what he did.

President Donald Trump revealed the name he calls his new chief of staff John Kelly, The Hill reported Friday.

"And so I respect General Kelly, and so my feeling about the whole thing is that - what happens was sort of meant to happen".
