Fidget spinners are supposed to be calming and fun, especially for students struggling to focus.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a fidget spinner safety guidance to help consumers understand the ways in which the product can be harmful.

It's a harmless fad, but months after we've all grown exhausted of even thinking about the things, the federal government is here to make sure you don't kill yourself, kill everyone around you, and burn down your neighborhood with a small spinning toy. No deaths have been reported.

More specifically, some fidget spinners form a choking hazard, while others are a fire hazard. There was one notable choking incident in May that resulted in a 10-year-old having to get surgery to remove part of a spinner.

The host of the 2026 World Cup will be decided during the 68th FIFA Congress, set to take place in Russian Federation in 2018. But FIFA chose to keep the contest open, and Morocco said it had made the deadline - just.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says small parts can come off easily and have, according to the group, been implicated in choking incidents in kids up to age 14.

Fidget spinners should be kept away from children under the age of 3, the statement said. The CPSC reasonably recommends not putting fidget spinners in your mouth. The regulations recommend being present when the batteries are charging, only using the charger provided with the spinner, and unplugging the spinner as soon as the batteries are fully charged-the "do not look into the sun" of safety recommendations.

Consumers who purchase these products should have working smoke alarms in their home and never charge the product overnight.

The spinners are especially popular with teenagers, and what teenagers find cool, younger children want to play with. Businesses selling general-use spinners are still urged to make sure rechargeable ones have proper battery management systems, to lower their risk of catching fire.
