The Board also told the apex court in an affidavit that the Babri Masjid site was its property and only it was entitled to hold negotiations for an amicable settlement of the dispute.

The board in its affidavit added that if both temple and mosque are constructed at the disputed land then it would lead to regular confrontation that should be avoided.

With this submission, the Shia Board becomes the first Muslim organisation to come out in support of the demand of various Hindu bodies on the Ayodhya issue.

Chairman of the Shia Waqf Board, Wasim Rizvi, claimed that Mir Baki Mosque was a property of Shia Waqf Board, which he said was the rightful owner.

As of now, the Shia Waqf Board is one of the parties to the dispute. A high-level committee should be formed for this, in addition to the Supreme Court's retired judge, two retired judges of the High Court, Prime Minister's Office, and other office bearers of the Chief Minister's Office.

Bollywood production company Eros wants Silicon Valley to buy its $1bn library
Suitors are said to be lining up for a crack at the film and music content library of India's largest movie producer, Eros Group . Since the deal is in a very early stage, spokesperson from either Eros or Apple declined to share the details of the deal.

The first documented violence over the disputed site was reported in 1853 when the Nirmohi Akhara had forcefully occupied the Babri Masjid saying it was Ram Janmabhoomi. All parties can settle this issue by sitting together and the Supreme Court give them time in it.

"Going by this fact it was always a Shia mosque.only the Imam and Muezzins of the mosque were Sunnis who were paid their due by the Shia Mutawwali".

The Shia Board's 30-page affidavit assumes significance as it has been filed within few days of the Supreme Court agreeing to fast track the hearing on a batch of appeals challenging the Allahabad High Court verdict in the case.

The dispute over the ownership of the 2.7 acres of Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land has raged on for decades.

In November 2016, Subramanian Swamy had appealed in the Supreme Court for the day-to-day hearing in the case.
