M'sia to do its part to help resolve Qatar crisis

He met Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, and his Qatari counter-part, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss a fair solution for a diplomatic crisis.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt forced a land, ocean and air blockade on Qatar on June 5.

The Washington Post cited USA intelligence officials as saying the UAE had orchestrated the posting of incendiary quotes attributed to Qatar's emir that he insisted were fabricated.

He pointed out that France is in contact with all parties, and that this crisis will allow the strengthening of all mechanisms to combat terrorism, praising Saudi efforts to eradicate this scourge.

Gargash said the memorandum of understanding signed by the United States and Qatar on Tuesday on the financing of terrorism was a positive development.

Kuwait is trying to mediate the dispute.

"The sovereignty of Qatar is not going to be questionable here".

The long-brewing spat between Qatar and its neighbors, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, includes accusations that Doha has been cozying up to Tehran.

Indonesia blocks web-based Telegram app
Telegram is a free Russian-designed messaging app that lets people exchange messages, photos and videos in groups of up to 5,000. The ministry warned that it would block Telegram if the company behind it did not filter what it called "illegal content".

"We've sent a message to Qatar".

At no time in the situation has the bloc offered any evidence in support of its allegations, prompting speculation, even by the USA, that its motivations for the blockade might be fueled by pre-existing issues, rather than a concern for global security.

USA officials concede they aren't yet sure if the UAE directly hacked the Qatari outlet, or "contracted it out", but either way it's clear this whole diplomatic crisis was manufactured ahead of time, with the goal of forcing Qatar to make concessions coming before the blockade was publicly discussed.

Furthermore, Le Drian hailed Saudi Arabia's role in halting terrorism and extremist ideology, hoping that the kingdom will implement Vision 2030. The minister called on finding a resolution to the crisis as soon as possible, and lifting all the measures that affected joint families and civilians. Both Thani and his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, were adamant on rejecting the Saudi-led bloc's demand that the Turkish military base in Qatar be shut down.

"No diplomatic effort or... mediation will succeed without Doha being rational, mature and realistic", UAE state minister for foreign affairs Anwar Gargash tweeted last week.

He is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia later on Saturday and will visit Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.

Energy-rich Qatar has been defiant throughout the crisis, insisting it can weather action taken against it.

The top French diplomat also said his respective country "should be a facilitator in the mediation" led by Kuwait, a key mediator in the crisis.
