Olympic gold medalist fails drug test due to kissing girlfriend Track Athlete Blamed "Frequent And Passionate" Kissing For Failed Drug Test

Olympic gold medallist Gil Roberts has been cleared of failing a drugs test, after it was found that he ingested a banned substance by kissing his girlfriend.

In March, he tested positive for a drug called probenecid, and in May, the United States Anti-Doping Agency said Roberts' B sample also tested positive for the masking agent.

Roberts was part of the United States' 4-by-400 relay team that won a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

The case went to an arbitrator in June.

Funeral for slain trooper set for Saturday
Calling hours for 27-year-old Nichole Walters are scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the Fergerson Funeral Home in North Syracuse. Davis was shot and killed Sunday, July 9 when he responded to a domestic incident at a home in the town of Theresa.

According to the documents, Roberts, 28, had no idea Salazar was taking the medication or that she had taken the medication while "they kissed and "chilled out" the afternoon of March 24.

Alex Salazar and her family had reportedly visited the rural parts of India around the time of the doping incident and subsequently procured the medicine for a sinus problem. Salazar got sinus medication from a "makeshift" and "messy" place and came back with a prescription of "Moxylong", which it turns out contains the masking agent.

She continued taking the medicine, which contained the masking agent probenecid, when she returned to the US, and Roberts said bouts of intense smooching caused him to test positive. "When he kissed her he did not remember the taste of medicine in her mouth", the arbitrator said. The U.S. Olympian failed a drug test and was banned from competition, but he claimed it was due to kissing someone who was taking drugs a bunch of times, not because he was taking the drugs himself. "Roberts has met his burden of proof", USADA said in its ruling, released earlier this week.
