6 dead in Interstate 65 crash in Kentucky

The wreck happened just after 10:30 p.m. CDT.

All travel lanes of Interstate 65 northbound are now closed, with delays expected for an extended period of time. The tractor-trailer struck a passenger vehicle, which was sitting in the right lane of travel, causing a chain-reaction collision involving one additional passenger vehicle and one additional commercial vehicle.

Kentucky State Police say two commercial vehicles and two vans were involved in the chain-reaction crash.

A juvenile passenger also in that Hyundai ENT van has been admitted to Vanderbilt University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries suffered in the collision.

The operator of the second involved passenger vehicle's name is now being withheld, pending death notification to family members.

One tractor-trailer driver was treated at a hospital and released, and the other wasn't injured, Hodges said.

Authorities had not yet released the name of the sixth person who died.

KSP released the identities of five of the people killed in the crash: 77-year-old Robert Hogan of Beech Grove, Ind.; 48-year-old Jonell Boster of Beech Grove; 59-year-old Lonnie Boster of Beech Grove; 17-year-old Carl Boster of Beech Grove; and 30-year-old Lonnie D. Boster of Indianapolis.
