Porsche has released a new video of its hardcore 911 GT2 RS running at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The key to that level of performance is its 690bhp engine; and, in this lightweight two-seater version of the 911, that's enough to get it from 0-62mph in just 2.8 seconds and go on to a top speed of well over 200mph.

The 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels are all controlled by the car's steering system and fitted with ultra-high-performance tires.

If you prefer your 911 GT2 RS leaner than this, there is the optional $31,000 Weissach package with 30kg weight saving.

In a bid to trim weight, the bonnet, front wings, exterior mirror housings and numerous air duct surrounds are fashioned from carbon fibre.

The new rear-wheel-drive coupé is powered by a heavily reworked version of the twinturbocharged 3.8-litre flat six-cylinder engine used in the latest 911 Turbo.

The auto runs on the samesized wheels and tyres as the 911 GT3 RS: 20in centre-locking rims up front shod with 265/35 tyres and 21in rear wheels with 325/30-profile rubber.

Demonetisation: Can't ban people from depositing old notes, says Supreme Court
This is applicable to the individuals who had genuine reasons behind not able to deposit the notes before December 31. The apex court was hearing a batch of pleas seeking grace period for exchanging demonetised notes .

Opinion: how extreme will the Porsche 911 GT2 RS be? These are attached to ceramic composite brakes and linked to an active suspension that includes a special Sport Mode setting created to help the racing chassis optimize its dynamic cornering performance.

Since the 991.2 GT3 packs a new 4.0-liter boxer based on the units of the GT3 Cup racecar, the RS model is expected to see the displacement of the unit jumping to 4.2 liters, which should bring the output to anywhere between 520 and 550 ponies. The Porsche Communication Management system houses controls for the audio, satellite navigation and communication functions.

There is also a strong chance of Porsche offering a free manual gearbox option again with the GT3 RS, following the example of its little GT3 sibling, in addition to the standard PDK transmission. Carbon fibre and CFRP features extensively to help keep weight down, as well as a new titanium exhaust system - said to cut seven kilos over the regular Turbo S system.

In Canada, the GT2 RS sells for $334,000, making it the most expensive - but also, arguably, the most capable - 911 variant by a wide margin. Torque, meanwhile, remains the same as the 911 Turbo S at 750Nm, or some 50Nm more than the previous 1370kg 911 GT2 RS.

As for the interior, red Alcantara suede and black leather complement the cabin's woven carbon-fibre elements, like the sport seats. Porsche - along with Audi, Lamborghini and Bentley - is part of the Volkswagen Group.

To make the experience even more exclusive, Porsche has also unveiled a watch that has been especially created for the 2018 GT2 RS customers.
