Warship is Military's Latest Addition

Asia's biggest, most advanced warship finally launches as China strengthens naval presence China Launches New 10000 Ton Guided Missile Destroyer
Sammy Stanley | 29 June, 2017, 09:00

Previously, the People's Liberation Army Navy's most advanced destroyer was the type 052D, a 7,500-tonne vessel. India's top warships carry around 50 surface-to-air, anti-ship and land attack missiles, but China's latest warship can carry as many as 120 missiles.

The Chinese Navy's new destroyer, a 10,000-tonne domestically designed and produced vessel, was launched on Wednesday in Shanghai.

The Type 055 is roughly equal in displacement to the U.S. Navy's Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, and is expected to have equivalent mission roles and capabilities.

China marked a milestone with the launch of this Navy destroyer, which the Communist country sees a step towards improving the nation's Navy armament system and building a strong and modern Navy. India's newest destroyers will displace close to 8,200 tonnes when completely armed and are created to carry almost 50 missiles, while the Type 055 can carry 120 missiles.

Justices to review New Jersey bid for legal sports betting
But the five major sports leagues are against it. "That will enable sports betting to be enjoyed by millions of Americans". Senator Bill Bradley is among those who have come out in opposition to legalized sports gambling in his home state.

According to a statement posted on the official website of the Chinese Ministry of Defense, the new warship was "independently developed and manufactured by China". The Type 055 naval destroyer launched today by China is among the biggest warships in the world. It has also raised concerns within the Indian Navy, given that the Chinese destroyer is superior to any ship yet completed by them. Some of its features include a new air defence, anti-missile, anti-ship and anti-submarine weapons, reported state-run Xinhua news agency.

China is believed to be in the process of simultaneously constructing at least two other Type 055s, with Wednesday's the first to be launched. China claims most of the strategic waterway, through which $5 trillion in trade passes each year. According to the plan, tests will be carried on the vessel, including equipment operation, berthing and sailing. Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam also have claims.

Liaoning has earlier carried out exercises in the disputed South China Sea as well as East China Sea along with its battle formation group.
