NDA's Presidential nominee Ramnath Kovind files nomination

Ramvilas Paswan Kovind nomination to shake up politics in UP

BJP Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind files his nomination as the 15th President of India in Parliament House.

Nitish Kumar, who continues to remain firm on the decision to support Ram Nath Kovind said, the decision was taken by JD (U) after a discussion with all party leaders.

Kovind is former Governor of Bihar. His son and Samajwadi party president Akhilesh Yadav has already announced to support Meira Kumar, the Congress leader and joint candidate of the 17 opposition parties.

The presidential race between Congress and BJP has become intense with both the national parties trying to woo the Dalit vote bank in the country with the presidential elections. "I can not understand why (the) Congress is opposing him", Naidu said after Kovind filed his nomination.

"Kovind is a good candidate". "Now they are in no position to even pose a challenge to the NDA candidate in the contest, the congress has fielded the candidate from the dalit community", said Anupriya Patel, adding " the people were no longer naive and they have seen through the game of the Congress".

State television footage showed the missiles on truck missile launchers in the daylight before being launched at night. The IRGC launched the missiles from western provinces of Kermanshah and Kurdistan, home to Sunni Kurdish populations.

The chief ministers of all the states ruled by the BJP and its allies, except Manohar Parrikar of Goa and Mehbooba Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, were present.

With the backing of parties outside the alliance like TRS (2 per cent), AIADMK (5.39 per cent), YSR Congress (1.53 per cent) and BJD (2.99 per cent), the NDA's support reaches almost 63 per cent with JD-U contributing 1.91 per cent.

State JD (U) spokesman Neeraj Kumar claimed that they had provided a "political sanjivani" (a life-saving herb) to the RJD. The Constitution casts on the President and the Head of State alone the responsibility to "preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution. The values I hold dear - of inclusiveness, social justice and pluralism - are the values the president must uphold. "He is a true diamond", she said.

He is likely to go to Uttarakhand from here, they said. "Therefore, we welcome his name as presidential candidate", BJP spokesperson Mrinal Kanti Deb told TNT-The Northeast Today. On his part the Prime Minister has invariably been one up on the opposition be it last November's Demonetisation or the recent appointment of Yogi Adityanath as the chief minister of the crucial and most populous state of Uttar Pradesh in the country. Like Meira Kumar, he too hails from the Dalit community, which has sizeable presence in the state.

A swing of votes away from Kovind could come only if Nitish Kumar can be convinced to change his mind and back "Bihar Beti" Meira Kumar. "This is an insult to "Bihar's daughter", Sushil Modi said.
