Ivies Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Recognition

The Hope College women's and men's swimming & diving teams have claimed Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association for the 2017 spring semester.

Each Navy program was named as a Scholar All-America Team for having attained a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00 during the recently completed term.

"The women have now reached 19 consecutive semesters earning this team honor, which we are extremely proud of", WVU coach Vic Riggs said.

Bolognesi proved his prowess in the pool, becoming an NCAA and CSCAA All-American for the second straight year and taking ninth in the nation in the 100-yard breaststroke to win the B Final in 52.07. The business administration major was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors twice in his debut collegiate season. In total, 720 teams, representing 443 institutions achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the Spring 2017 Semester. Also, 954 students were named as honorable mentioned selections.

"Between the athletic and academic components required to receive the award, these student-athletes really are some of the best of the best", Shinofield said.
