In a financial results presentation, Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda revealed that the Final Fantasy VII Remake, along with Kingdom Hearts 3, will be launched "in the next three years or so". According to the source, Naoki Hamaguchi will be spearheading the development of Final Fantasy VII Remake. In the future, however, it is company judgment that we want to shift to internal structure, including mass production & quality, and to control, including quality on a stable schedule.

He said that till recently the game was being developed with external help. Talking in a livestream for Mobius Final Fantasy, Hamguchi confirmed that he had taken the lead for the Final Fantasy Remake.

Yes! the Square Enix and IO Interactive are having a break.

This is a surprising progress, considering that just two years ago at the E3 2015 event, the partnership was announced for the title's development.

By dividing the game into multiple parts, Square Enix was able to give players access to areas in the game that were inaccessible in the original Final Fantasy VII, which released in 1997. But now, Square Enix will be making the game in-house. Nevertheless, the developer stated that he will not be abandoning Mobius Final Fantasy.

Square Enix has been reaping tons of blessings with the release of their games this past year.

Things continue to look uncertain for Hitman fans, and the game's developer IO Interactive, after Square Enix unexpectedly dropped the studio earlier this month.

Last week, we got our first update on the status of Final Fantasy VII Remake in quite some time. Whether this is good or bad news for Final Fantasy fans remains unclear. We'll likely see the publisher experiment with more microtransactions in key AAA titles, such as the skill-packs in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
